Donatello x April - Valentine

When I asked Aery what she wanted drawn in her Valentine's card this year, I was totally expecting her to request her OCxThrottle as usual- but oh no, she requested this.  It turned out kind of derp, but I seriously have not drawn a Ninja Turtle SINCE THE 80's, let alone considered adapting the new CG style to my own.  The coloring job is not my usual style, and I really dislike throwing multiply shading down on flats, but I was running out of time to finish this before I left town.  It was kind of fun trying to come up with some texture ideas, though.  The ace bandages alone cost me $8.  Dammit, Aery- appreciate me!     ( You know I lurv you )

I originally hand-painted in some messy, watercolor-y flowers that Donatello was carrying, and then for fun decided to do an overlay of a snapshot of the flowers sent me for Valentine's Day.  Hey Shamon, I had to throw them in the garbage tonight, but they will live on forever in this fanart!  Pffft, lol.   

Oh yeah, and Donnie isn't off kilter.  He's supposed to be kind of sheepishly twisting his toes on the ground.  I originally had some motion lines in there to try and imply that, but removed them later because they were kind of confusing.  It's kind of hard to imply that motion with the design of their big legs.  Hmm..something to try and work with next time..
